How do we know if an Am Kolel event is cancelled due to snow?

Events held in Public Facilities – Rec Centers, Schools and the Ceder Lane Church:

  • Am Kolel follows the county and park service for weather cancellations for events that we hold public facilities (including Ceder Lane Church). If the county or the park service closes their facilities, the Am Kolel event will be cancelled. Call the Park Police at 301-949-3010 to find out if the parks and Rec Centers are closed. Call 301-279-3673 to check if public school buildings are closed. The Ceder Lane Church follows the school closing policy.

Events held in Private Homes:

  • If the Am Kolel event is being held in a private house, you should call the host/hostess to check about cancellations. In general, events held in private homes will not be cancelled due to bad weather.

Events held at Sanctuary:

  • Please call Sanctuary (301) 349-2799 directly to see if an event there is cancelled due to the weather.

DAIRY/VEGETARIAN POT LUCK

What is a potluck meal? What is appropriate to bring?? At Am Kolel potlucks, we request dairy/vegetarian foods such as salads, breads, fruits and vegetables (with or without dip), and, of course, desserts. Generally speaking, enough to serve 4-6, or the number in your party is a good size.
